The nervous system is a complex, highly organized network that coordinates the body’s activities and responses to internal and external stimuli—controlling everything from basic survival functions (breathing, heartbeat) to higher processes like thought, sensation, and movement.
Broadly, it’s divided into two main parts: the central nervous system (CNS) (brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS) (vast network of nerves linking the CNS to the rest of the body). Together they regulate functions, process sensory input, and enable communication throughout the body.
